For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” – Rom 8:13

We cannot walk in victory as Christians outside of the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. John 14:26 (AMP) “But the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf, He will teach you all things. And He will help you remember everything that I have told you.”

Years ago, we saw instructions on how to properly wax and care for a wooden piece of furniture. The article said to run the cloth along the grain of the wood so the wax could easily fill in the natural groves thus making it easier to wax and polish. Waxing and polishing wood correctly will prolong its life and ensure its beauty. Those simple instructions have stayed with us over the years and we discovered that they can be applied in different applications. When driving, we are taught to yield to the natural curves and bends in the road and flow with it. Driving this way takes on a natural feeling.

When we pray in the spirit we are able to yield to the groves, curves or the flow of sorts, as we speak of God. It allows us to begin to flow with him and not against him. Praying in the Spirit sharpens our sensitivity and awareness of his presence. We are able to develop a knowing of His Will and His guidance.

Having a daily lifestyle of praying in the spirit allows us to pray the perfect prayer.

“And He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because He maketh intercession for the saints according to the Will of God.” – Rom 8:27

We don’t have to leave things to change or our natural inclinations. As we lift up situations before the Lord, pray in the spirit with those thoughts in our heart we are assured our spirit man is praying in agreement with God’s will.

There is a trust and a yielding to the Lord as things begin to unfold.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”- Rom 8:28

We are assured that however that situation manifests itself, whether it seems in moment to work out on our behalf or not, the word says it is working for our good. We can surely trust in God, and know that the situations are going to ensure our good. The end result will be that there is a blessing in it for us. There is a peace that will flood our hearts when we commit things to God and pray in the spirit over them.  There is an assurance that no matter what it looks like God is working it out. It frees us up from worrying and toiling over situations.

Daily, let’s work with the Spirit and stay in the flow. Praying in tongues will settle you, it will strengthen your resolve to leave things in the hands of the Lord and know he is yet working it out.

Be Encouraged! Pray in tongues, and strengthen yourself in the Lord!
