As pastors, we would say that it is shocking how many people that we have counseled over the years, have been molested as a child. Unfortunately, it has happened more often than not. We are sad to report that it has been the norm. These are some of the many issues that come to the forefront in the majority of counseling sessions, and they must be dealt with properly. First, one must acknowledge the fact that the offense actually occurred. Secondly, forgiveness towards the perpetrator must follow. True forgiveness is a very serious process that is accomplished through time, tears, a loving and accepting support person or group and the consistent reliance on God’s Word. His Word promises us healing for all of our mistreatments in life. Further, it promises to restore us.
“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.” – Isa 61:1 -3
If Molestation has occurred in one’s life and without exercising the proper spiritual remedies, it can be extremely dangerous. Not only is it potentially dangerous to the person that was molested, but it is also dangerous to others that are near that person. Left spiritually untreated, the molested person continues in life damaged in their self-esteem, thought processes and spirit. Some people develop heavy spiritual scar tissue and generate a vengeful mindset that preemptively strikes back at anyone that even resembles the molester. Some people wall themselves off and never allow themselves to get close to anyone ever again out of fear. Some people crumple and wilt entirely. Others, simply attempt to forget and ignore that it ever happened. The variety of people’s responses to molestation is endless. Left untreated, spiritual would can fester just like physical wounds.
Examples of some of the spiritual remedies that can be applied are:
- Learning what the Word of God has to say about the issue(s).
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” – 2Ti 2:15 KJV
- Forgiveness of the perpetrator
“Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.” -Mat 18:22 KJV
The closing of the spiritual door(s) that originally gave the enemy access. This must occur through prayer. If the demonic gateways are left open, it will leave a consistent access point for the enemy to have free range in person’s life and bloodlines.
- Learning how to praise and worship God for His Goodness and Mercy despite the enemy’s attempts to destroy them. Learning how to be thankful to God instead of blaming Him for the evil abuse.
“Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. “ -1 Th 5:16-18 KJV
There can also be a barrage of attacks that one may not be aware of. Though “personal encounters” with a physical flesh and blood molester may no longer occur, beware that the enemy is still quite clever. He still continues to attack through other means.
How so, you may ask? Good question! You may not have ever been physically molested but you can still get an understanding of the following concept. Take a deep breath and think for a moment about your response. Ask yourself how you felt in your mind and spirit after a cleverly devised demonic attack. For example, think how you may have felt after watching a lustful, salacious movie, or an indecent, suggestive television program, advertisements, romance novels and or sexually crude music lyrics that were beyond your tolerance level. Did you feel imposed upon? Did you feel ‘not right’? Did it cause you to feel ‘dirty’? The devil is very smart and will use whatever means he can to penetrate his lecherous tentacles into your spirit in an attempt to kill, steal, and destroy you.
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.“– Joh 10:10
The Bible also admonishes us…
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. “- 1Pe 5:8 -9
These kinds of attacks are spiritual molestation. They come and attempt to enter through one of many means. Their sole purpose is to stir up your emotions and pollute your spirit. Their strategy is to cause you to act in an ungodly manner. To further exacerbate the problem, the enemy can attack in the night hour while a person is sleeping. This kind of attack is an attempt to plant dreams based on the images displayed in one of the many previously mentioned outlets. We must be aware that these are all his devices used in an attempt to trap and ensnare you.
“Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. Satan puts evil suggestions into our minds. He will do anything he can to try and molest and trick us. Be quick to recognize his subtle tricks and don’t give in to him.” -2 Co 2:11
This is not a message just for the single believer but for all believers, married or not.
When it comes to marriage, 1 Cor 7:5 says that married couples should not withhold their bodies from each other (except by consent), so that
“Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.”
Married people should promote a loving, intimate relationship with one another and not allow the devil to cause them to lust after others. Satan is the one who tempts to sexual immorality. We must not follow the promptings of the devil through whatever means he has devised to pull and tear away married couples away from each other. By sowing seeds of discord, competition and lust, Satan attempts to grow weeds of division, strife and foster malcontent. Be quick to speak to each other of any struggle you may have. Shine the light on the issue. Remember the devil, like a roach, runs from the light and only operates in darkness.
Do not allow yourself to be molested by the devil. Be on guard for the enemy and be quick to turn away from his ubiquitous ploys. Submit everything to the Lord in prayer. Pray and take authority over the enemy! Remember, shut down the enemy at every turn. If the images are on TV, then changing the station works nicely too!
“Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” – 2 Ti 2:22
The good news is, that if you have been molested either naturally or spiritually, then there is a remedy for you. God’s Love, Kindness, Mercy and His Word will bring healing and restoration. And if that was not enough, He gave you the authority to use The Name of His Son, Jesus, to tell the devil…

An Apostolic and Prophetic View of God’s Process for Personal Growth and Ministry
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
According to the Scripture, Romans 8:28 says- “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” The questions is, how do all these things work out to our benefit? God is a “God that declares “The End” from “The Beginning”. However, we must understand that He is also a God of process. There is a process that takes from the beginning unto the end.
