I have often wondered about dogs and their bones. I wonder about the great love that they have for an old bone.  Through the years I have seen dogs digging holes and burying that same old bone.  But on second thought, did they really bury it or were they just digging holes???

Time for a little digging on the subject. Research says unless their bones are buried quite deeply, it’s the dog’s keen sense of smell that will help him locate his hidden stash at a later date.   Also, if the dog sees that you are watching him as he is up to his shenanigans, he will wait until a private moment to unearth his treasure. From there, he will take it to a more secure spot and bury it out of your sight.  However, they remember exactly where they hid that bone. Needless to say, being a dog, they will eventually go back and dig it up.

In a time of reflection, the Lord showed me that today’s internet and social media is sort of like an old dirt field.  Long lost relationships, like a dog’s old bone, can be unearthed by simply typing in someone’s name. Not only can they be found but even possible a location.  Once someone digs through the maze of people who may pop up, ‘Walla!’, Like a dog’s old bone coming to the surface, you can pretty much find just about anything. It is easy to dig up the old things that were once buried.

The internet and social media can be used for either good or bad.  Bad use of it, as mentioned, is when someone uses it to reconnect with someone or something that they should have left alone.  That relationship should have remained buried in the past. There are countless stories of people connecting for good reasons. But there are also countless reconnections that have been made with wrong motivations.  To go into detail here is not necessary, but you can easily use your imagination, and quickly discover a true case or story to go along with it.

The enemy of your soul uses this tactic to get people off track. He uses this tactic to make people keep their eyes focused on the past.  He uses this tactic to take their focus off of the great possibilities that lie ahead.   It is truly a great tragedy when someone’s primary focus becomes ‘what was’ instead of ‘what can be’.

The Apostle Paul tells us in Philippians 3:13-14:

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

Hebrews 11:5 says this:

And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.”

If God has delivered you from your past, do not take any opportunity to return to it.  A casual reconnect with old relationships and scenarios of the past may sound innocent, but think again.  Remember, the dogs that bury and dig up their old bones.  Consider these other scriptures:

As a dog returns to his vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.” – Prov 26:11

But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.” -2Pe 2:22 KJV

Somethings from the past were meant to stay in the past.  Somethings are simply meant to be left alone.

Consider Pro. 26:17

He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.”  – Pro 26:17 KJV

Yanking a dog’s ears is just as foolish as interfering with an argument that isn’t any of your business.  Digging up old situations and getting involved can potentially lead toward your being left out of truly good things.

“For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.” -Rev 22:15 KJV

Learn to leave the dogs and their cohorts outside of that which is Holy. If you were delivered from an old situation, relationship or scenario consider this: don’t reconnect to things of the past when you feel the Spirit of God impressing upon you not to.   Don’t reconnect by digging up old bones. What you may think is harmless is in actuality, akin to playing with fire.  And it is not the fire of the Holy Spirit.

Leave the old bones alone.

An Apostolic and Prophetic View of God’s Process for Personal Growth and Ministry

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

According to the Scripture, Romans 8:28 says- “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.”  The questions is, how do all these things work out to our benefit? God is a “God that declares “The End” from “The Beginning”.  However, we must understand that He is also a God of process. There is a process that takes from the beginning unto the end.
