Early on in our Christian walk, we were encouraged to read a Proverb a day that corresponded to the day of the month. You can read through proverbs completely twelve times within a year. These golden, sparkling gems will speak you day in and day out. Throughout the years, this being a practice, these Proverbs shed new light into the unfathomable wisdom of God each time we meditate on them.
Today being the 6th day of the month, let’s see what jumps out today:
“These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:” – Pro 6:16
“A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,” – Pro 6:17
“An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,” – Pro 6:18
“A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. “ – Pro 6:19
We speak so often of God being a God of love, but we must also remember there are things that the Lord actually hates. ‘Hate.’ Now that is a strong word when you think of God. I would say He is very serious about these things to say He hates them. Why? Because, they can kill a person’s spirit, kill relationships, and kill families, and kill a church.
Let’s look at verse 17, “a proud look.” Clearly, this is a haughty person. One who thinks they know everything and is characterized by having an unteachable, and untrainable spirit. Proverbs 16:18 tells us that
“Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.“
This person is headed for a fall. Meaning, life will pull the rug out from under them at some point in time.
The second part of Proverb 6:17 states that “their hands shed innocent blood.” Think about that! ‘Innocent’ blood. Those with a haughty spirit will cause those that are ‘innocent’ and have a sincere heart to be hindered. It can be easily seen in the church when the one with a haughty spirit will begin to think that they know more than the leadership God has ordained in the church. Those with a haughty spirit will begin to talk about the leaders and stir up doubt about the ministry. As a result, the innocent become hindered in their Christian walk. The innocent have difficulty hearing what God is saying and understanding what He is doing. When this happens, sometimes those innocent people will become uprooted from the place that in which God ordained for them to prosper. As a result, they begin to wander in wilderness experiences for a season.
Haughty spirits are sent into ministries to cause havoc and discord. It is a strategy and tool frequently used by the enemy. How can he do this? Easy! When people do not take heed to the following scripture, they get what the older saints used to call, the “Big Head.” They become full of pride.
“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” – Romans 12:3
The bible says in in James 1:14 that people are drawn away by their own lust….
“But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Jas 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” – Jas 1:14
Most often, the devil doesn’t have to twist someone’s arm too hard to get a person to do what is already in their own heart. When God reveals Truth to a person, we should simply “fess up.” Just repent. We need to move away from that sin quickly. Otherwise, Satan will be back to entice, pull again and cause more sin.
The haughty spirit has a remedy as stated in the Word of God…there will be a fall from grace. There will be a just reward. However, God is long-suffering and wants man to repent.
“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” -Jas 4:10 KJV
We have observed that when others are affected by attacks against the innocent, God uses a heavy hand. He does not take it lightly when people use inhumane and demonic tactics that cause others to be led astray.
Again, let’s look at Pro 6:19
“A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.”
God hates anyone who spreads lies, and causes troubles between His children. Especially within the Church.
“For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies.” – 2 Thes 3:11
“At the same time they also learn to be idle, as they go around from house to house; and not merely idle, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things not proper to mention. “- 1 Tim 5:13
A busybody is one who is always stirring up trouble. A person who is disobedient and looking to draw people into their nets of destruction. These are people who mistakenly think that the rules don’t apply to them. They are the ones who set themselves up above the Word of God by allowing an unrepented and undisciplined spirit to rule them.
Fortunately, when confronted with their behavior they have the opportunity to repent. Unfortunately, we have seen repentance usually is not the road that they tend to take. Like cancer that needs to be removed, that spirit must be cast out from the assembly. When this happens, there is usually collateral damage. Sadly, there is often more than one causality. Those who had itching ears were the most easily displaced.
God is a redeemer. Don’t be like the children of Israel that walked in the wilderness for forty years, taking laps upon laps and going around and around until their day of release. God in His Mercy redeemed them but look at all of those wasted years.
Considering all of those wasted years having the wrong attitudes and going down the wrong paths, we would like to point your attention to the following story…
Not long ago a lady on the news by the pseudonym ‘Sweet Brown’, gave us a popular cliched expression. We’re sure that you will probably remember her from her comment. After the perils of being evacuated from her 3:00 AM apartment fire, she ends her TV interview with the local reporter by stating these profound words…

An Apostolic and Prophetic View of God’s Process for Personal Growth and Ministry
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
According to the Scripture, Romans 8:28 says- “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” The questions is, how do all these things work out to our benefit? God is a “God that declares “The End” from “The Beginning”. However, we must understand that He is also a God of process. There is a process that takes from the beginning unto the end.
