Horse Whisperr

Horse Whisperers, Dog Whisperers, …

What does that have to do with the Bible?

Have you ever tuned in to the Dog Whisperer TV program, and or saw the movie the Horse Whisperer?  Well, I have and believe me I enjoyed the dog program as well as the movie.  Watching someone use a soft tone to calm down a ferocious dog or a wild horse is amazing.

Now, what does this have to do with the Bible?  Ok, consider the following scriptures;

A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.” – Pro 16:28

The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.” – Pro 18:8

Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.” – Pro 26:20

The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.“  -Pro 26:22 KJV

Apostle Paul’s teaching says this:

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; WHISPERERS,

 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. “-Rom 1:28-32

To begin, let’s look at the word ‘Whisperer,’ in scripture is it interchangeable with the word ‘Talebearer,’ and it is translated out as ‘Slanderer.’

Let’s look at some of the characteristics of this word and examine how it is applied towards our topic today of Dog Whisperer, and Horse Whisperer.

The Greek definition of the word whisperer means to tear or to roll into pieces.  It also means a “secret communicator.”  Here are additional definitions to consider.

Talebearer/ Whisperer

  1. A crooner… one who sings to calm you down and to take you off guard so they can plant subtle lies or tales of woe in to your spirit. The ultimate goal is to win someone over to their way of thinking with a negative motive hidden in their heart.
  2. Rumormonger, one who spreads lies with an ulterior motive at the heart of it.
  3. One who drops evil seeds which can take root and produce great problems as time progresses.
  4. The whisperer uses body language, gentle voice, soft approach, not overbearing. They use subtlety. One who can put a person or an animal off guard to get close to them.
  5. A technique used to train wild animals…a gentle approach, using a bit of food to win them over. The technique is similar to using Positive Reinforcement with food frequently as part of the equation.

Let’s put this all together.  A person with a wrong spirit, a wrong motive spiritually speaking can fall under the characteristics of a ‘Whisperer’.   The Bible clearly warns us to beware.  It is very important to be mindful of who we allow to be close to us.  Our ears are one of the gateways where things are released into our spirit.  We must not allow anyone or anything to get close enough to us with the wrong motives. We must watch for those who drop seeds of discord and slanders other people.

The Whisperer spirit comes to cause division within homes, relationships, and within the church body. We must always be mindful who we allow close to us.  One of the workings of the Holy Spirit (The Spirit of Truth), is a prompting that rises up within the Believer. It causes us to take notice of things that not ordained by the Spirit of God.

As we grow in our walk and closeness with the Lord, we will become more sensitive to these promptings. We then learn to uproot and cast down those things that were spoken via wrong ulterior motives and of a slanderous nature.

It is interesting to note, that the dog whisper and the horse whisperer can change the behavior of an animal by speaking softly and use the positive reinforcement of giving food.  The Whispering spirit comes to speak softly into your ear, but its intent and focus are to create doubt, unbelief, separation, and destruction. Often, it entices by using delicious tidbits which can seem like a delicious reward just for listening.  It can be quite exciting to gobble up the pseudo-advice or gossip morsels.  As saints of God, we cannot allow ourselves to be bought for a morsel, a loaf of bread, or anything else.

To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress. “ – Pro 28:21 KJV

The Bible tells us there is nothing new under the sun.  We need to be on guard concerning the strategies of the devil.  We must recognize that the devil will use anything he can to uproot us and cause division within the Body of Christ. Satan will play any and all the tricks he can in an attempt to destroy God’s people.  Let’s endeavor to be in tune with the workings of the Spirit of God and his leadings.  Let’s endeavor to cast down and uproot words of advice, stories, and suggestions that are contrary to God.  Let’s be mindful of anything that would disguise itself as truth and uses the subtlety of positive reinforcement to deceive us into accepting something that is not of God.  The Word of God reminds us:

“Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. “- 2 Cor 2:11 “

Anyone who comes in to whisper, slander, or cause division and discord among the bretheren has the wrong spirit.  The Bible teaches us to pray one for another.  It also tells us to mark those who would cause divisions. It would be wise to gently move away from anyone or anything that you know has the wrong motive(s).  Learn to trust your spirit as led by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, we are not animals that can be bought for a piece of bread!

An Apostolic and Prophetic View of God’s Process for Personal Growth and Ministry

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”

According to the Scripture, Romans 8:28 says- “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.”  The questions is, how do all these things work out to our benefit? God is a “God that declares “The End” from “The Beginning”.  However, we must understand that He is also a God of process. There is a process that takes from the beginning unto the end.
