Have you ever sat in a great service and the minister was preaching, sharing the Word of God? And even though you heard everything that was said, there was one specific point that really burned within your spirit? Perhaps, it was just one word, or one thought that truly illuminated your spirit? And at that moment, you knew that the Holy Spirit had spoken to you. At that moment, you knew that the Holy Spirit deposited understanding deep down on the inside of you.
The truth is that this should happen all the time. Our spirit man becomes saturated and supernaturally empowered with a flowing anointing and gets watered as we build ourselves up by speaking in the Holy Spirit. The more we speak in the Holy Spirit, the more open and in tune with God we become.
The Holy Spirit is personal and knows how to speak directly to each of us. When He speaks to our spirit, and as we receive it, then it is counted as a revelation. It is God’s revealed knowledge to us in a particular area for a particular time. These are God’s thoughts as relayed to us by the Holy Spirit.
An example can be found in the following scripture when Jesus was speaking to his disciples:
“When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?” – Mat 16:13.
Note, that when Jesus asked this question, each person had a different answer.
“And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.” -Mat 16:14 KJV
They were able to accurately respond by repeating what others have said who Jesus was. They got that part right. They answered Jesus’ question.
Then as we read on in this next scripture, Jesus asked a second question.
“He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?” – Mat 16:15.
When we look at this with a keen eye, we see that only one disciple was able to move from thinking in the natural realm and into the supernatural realm of knowledge thereby bypassing the opinions of others. Only one disciple was able to receive the knowledge as revealed by the Holy Spirit that Jesus was the Christ, the Anointed One, the Son of the Living God.
“And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” – Matt 16:16.
Jesus goes on to tell Simon Peter, that flesh and blood didn’t reveal this to him. He lets him know that this is a work of the Holy Spirit. It is interesting to note that at this time, Simon Peter had not been baptized in the Holy Spirit yet. This occurred later in the book of Acts, but at this juncture, Peter received this revelation without the infilling of the Holy Spirit! And yet, the Spirit of God revealed this knowledge to him. For Christians, having experienced the Born Again experience, and the subsequent infilling of the Holy Spirit gives the benefit of the presence of God on the inside. Consider this, that the presence of the Holy Spirit on the inside of you far exceeds the experience that the disciples may have had when they actually walked with Jesus! To them, Jesus was external, but to you, the Holy Spirit is internal. The Holy Spirit is always available with the Believer and is accessible at any time.
As believers, it is crucial that we learn to move fluidly and with ease from the natural realm and natural thinking processes where most people live and press into the supernatural realm where revealed knowledge is available. Once we learn how to press into His Holy Spirit, we will then be able to hear and see by the Spirit of God.
You may ask how does one do this? We must stay connected to Jesus to be able to discern good from evil, right from wrong and the Holy from the profane.
“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” – John 15:5.
We must stay connected to the Jesus, who is the Word of God. The Logos, which is the Written Word must be meditated upon day and night and we will be planted by Rivers of Living Water (The Holy Spirit).
There are no blurred lines. There are no grey areas concerning Good and evil. The Word makes things as clear as black and white. It is only when people don’t pray and study His Word in Truth that there are grey and obscure areas. The enemy fights with us to cause us to have excuses and a multitude of reasons why we can’t spend time in the Word and in study. The enemy knows that if you learn to reside in the Word of God continually, then he can no longer limit your understanding and spiritual vision.
First, it is important to recognize the resistance of the enemy as he presses down upon us. At that moment endeavor to press into the Holy Spirit more. Learn to move beyond the forces of darkness and exercise your spiritual authority as given by Jesus and command the enemy to go. He will flee from you. Without him hindering you, you can move forward.
Next, there must be time spent in prayer. Spending time in the Word and prayer will expand one’s capacity to hear and see by the spirit.
Satan knows that if we are unknowledgeable and undisciplined in the things of God, we will be limited to the natural realm and therefore blinded to his schemes and pursuits. He knows that Revelation Knowledge will elude us. He knows that when Revelation Knowledge eludes us, we will merely rely on what others say and their opinions, right or wrong. He knows that with that, those who fall for his demonic schemes will not hear and know by the Spirit of God for themselves.
However, we are not ignorant of the devices of the devil. As we draw near to God in study, prayer, and in fellowship, He will draw near to us. We will receive the help that is needed to move beyond the barrier and constraints that would try to beset us as we move forward into the spirit realm.
The Word will wash out everything that is ungodly. As we yield to this cleansing, our spirit man will awaken to the True Voice of God. Our spiritual eyes will begin to see beyond the cloud of this natural realm. Our spiritual eyes will also begin to focus, distinguish and see what is actually right before us in the realm of the supernatural.
If ever there was motivation for seeing and hearing Truth, you can find it here in this scripture:
“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,” – Jude 20.
The more we meditate and pray in the spirit, the more revelation we will receive from God. Our spirits will awaken increasingly more to Righteousness and Holiness. We will begin to walk increasingly soberly and circumspectly. We will be able to bypass the land mines, dangers, traps, pitfalls, and deep ditches that are created by ungodly thinking, false doctrines, and demonic strategies.
Be one of those who have committed to increased prayer, the study of God’s Word and fellowship with Jesus. Be one of those who builds themselves up daily in their most Holy Faith by praying in the Holy Spirit. Be one of those who’s Salvation and Righteousness is based in the Mighty Name of Jesus!
