Are you facing a situation that seems impossible? Are you looking at circumstances that don’t appear to be working out in your favor? We want to remind you that our God is greater than any situation we can face! His thoughts toward you are for good and not evil. You can trust that He sees all of your challenges, and He is faithful to bring you out with victory.
Let’s look at an example of this in the Scriptures. In Exodus 14, Moses and the children of Israel were faced with an impossible situation after Pharaoh had let them go from Egypt.
Exodus 13:17-18 states,
17 “And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:”
18 “But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.”
In this situation, the Israelites could have gone the faster route. However, God knew what was best for them and chose to send them by way of the wilderness and through the Red Sea. Many times, we can see this happen in our lives. We have plans to go one way. We see the way that makes sense to us in the natural, but God may have other plans for us so that He may show Himself strong on our behalf.
We then see that after the Lord led the children of Israel out of Egypt, the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart so that he and his armies began to pursue them.
Exodus 14:8-9 continues,
8 “And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.”
9 “But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.”
When Pharaoh and his armies got close to the children of Israel, they were afraid and cried out to the Lord, and they began to complain to Moses.
“13 “And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.”
14 “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”
The Lord then told Moses what to do. He told him to lift up his rod and stretch it out over the sea. When Moses was obedient to do this, the waters parted and allowed the children of Israel to cross over on dry ground through the middle of the sea. The Egyptians were still pursuing the children of Israel, and the Lord told Moses again to lift up his rod. It was the same rod that allowed the children of Israel to cross over on dry ground was used to make the waters to close and drown the Egyptians.
So, how does this relate to us? Many times we are faced with situations that can seem insurmountable, as though they are going to overtake us, but God always has a way for His children to come out victoriously!
Many years ago, I was faced with a situation where I was unemployed and had not worked in my field in a few years. Of course, I would love to say that I had didn’t doubt at all throughout the whole experience, but, unfortunately, that was not the case. As the money I had began to run out, I began to panic. I had home and bills that needed to be paid. After a couple months of worrying and looking for employment, I made a decision to trust God with the entire matter and not worry.
I had also decided that I was not going to borrow anything from anyone. If God was God, certainly He could provide and take care of me. When I did that, I heard the Lord’s still small voice say, “As long as I am God, I will take care of you.” From that point on, I cast the care over onto the Lord and continued to look for employment. Soon after, I was offered a temporary assignment, which became a full-time job in a matter of months. I can say that the Lord was and has been faithful to His Word since that time. The job has turned out to be blessing!
I tell you my testimony to encourage you today. Whatever you are facing, the Lord will never leave you or forsake you. He has the answer(s) for your situation. He knows the direction in which you should go. Trust Him to lead and guide you and to be all that you need today.
“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have. For He hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.“- Hebrews 13:5
“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. “- Psalm 32:8
